Best search site Because of the vastness of the Web, we all rely heavily on search sites to find our way to the information we seek. Tell us your site of choice for getting to your chosen destinations easily and effectively. Best online shopping site This award recognises Australian companies using the Web for online sales. We’re looking for shopping sites that embody all the vital aspects of online trading — ease of use and navigation, security, service and support. Best classifieds site Australians once relied on the classifieds section of their daily newspaper and specialist press for buying and selling, renting and leasing and getting a job. Tell us which site you find is the best or easiest for buying, trading or selling goods; buying or renting real estate, or finding employment. Best finance site Nominate the site that best demonstrates the use of the Web as a serious financial tool, whether for banking, research, financial planning or undertaking financial transactions. Best comparison site Web technology has made it easier than ever for consumers to compare prices, products and services. We are looking for the site that provides the best comparison service and gives visitors enough information to make informed choices. Best travel/tourism site This award recognises the best travel or tourism site as gauged by quality and quantity of travel or tourist information, ease of use, travel resources and overall consumer experience. Sites aimed at local travel should feature as highly as those aimed at the broader offshore market. Best parenting site We are looking for the site that Australian parents find most helpful when looking for information and advice on family issues such as pregnancy, childbirth, parenting and family activities. Best government site This award recognises the best local, state or federal Government department or agency Web site, based on its effective presentation of information pertinent to its area of responsibility and its provision of services online. Best small business site (max 25 employees) The Internet has made it possible for small businesses with limited resources to take their goods and services to an audience they would never have dreamt of in the past. In this category, we will be looking at the sites of businesses with a maximum of 25 employees to see which site best utilises the Web in the promotion of its business. Best health and fitness site Nominate the site you find the most useful when you’re looking for information on health matters, medical conditions, fitness and wellbeing. Best community/charity site In this category, we will be looking for the site that best raises awareness of local or world community issues such as the environment, animal welfare, people with special needs and society’s less fortunate and which makes a positive contribution towards mobilising action to support those issues or community members. Best media site The best Australian media Web site, which can either be an offshoot of an established media operation, such as a newspaper or TV channel, or a site developed specifically for the Internet. We are looking for sites that make full use of the immediacy and technology of the Web (RSS, blogs, podcasts, audio and video) to present news, information, opinion and analysis. Best social networking site Increasingly, Australians are turning to the Web to find advice, express opinions, stay in touch with friends and family, make new friends and rediscover long-lost friends. Nominate the site that you feel makes the best use of the Web to help people communicate online. Best entertainment site We are looking for the site that best captures the feel of entertainment online. It may be TV, music, games, film, radio or the like, which makes clever use of colour, graphics, audio MP3 and other Web tools to enhance the online entertainment experience. Best lifestyle site Nominate the Web sites you like to visit when you have a little time for yourself. The sites should cover lifestyle and leisure activities such as house and garden, hobbies, craft, food, beauty and fashion. Who provides the best information and resources for your lifestyle? Best sports site Nobody loves their sport more than we Aussies. We are looking for the site that brings a wealth of information to the sporting enthusiast, while also catering for regular sporting news updates. The site may be focused on one sport, or may take a more general approach. Best kids’/youth site We want to find the site that best caters for the entertainment and/or educational needs of young Australians. As well as content, we will be looking for that X factor needed not only to attract young people, but also to keep them coming back. Best new site We want to recognise the most innovative or interesting new site launched in the past 12 months since October 1, 2006. It must be a standalone new site, not an add-on to an existing site. Nominations are sought for Australian Web sites that have launched during this time and have made an impact on a significant number of Internet users in this country. Special awards
