The NetGuide Web Awards were developed to promote and recognise the quality of Australian Web sites. The first awards program was run in 2005 and it has now become a regular fixture on the NetGuide calendar. Last year, we had the biggest field of contenders ever — over 7,000 nominations — and this year we’re expecting even more as the pool of potential winners grows almost daily.

How it works
The first part of the program is for you to nominate your favourite Web sites in a range of categories, which include online shopping, entertainment, travel and tourism and many more. The full list of categories and criteria can be found in the Categories section and other details are in the Rules section.

The next step is for the dedicated NetGuide judges to sift through the thousands of nominations and select five finalists in each category. If one of the sites that you nominate becomes a finalist, your name will go into a draw to win one of 10 prizes of a year’s subscription to NetGuide.

The finalists will be published in the December 2008 issue of the magazine and we then need you to vote for your favourite one. The site that receives the most reader votes will be awarded the People’s Choice Award for 2008.

The winners in each category, including the People’s Choice, and the Site of the Year selected by the judges, will be published in the April 2009 issue of the magazine.

To qualify for nomination, a site must be based in Australia and it must meet the criteria for the category. If the site doesn’t have an Australian Web address (.au), check out the contact information or look in the About Us section.

To nominate a site, just fill out our online nomination form — you can nominate as many sites as you like. Nominations close on Friday September 19 at 5.30pm — so get cracking! We’re hoping for record entries again this year.
