The NetGuide Web Awards were developed to promote and recognise the quality of Australian Web sites. The first awards program was run in 2005 and it has now become a regular fixture on the NetGuide calendar. This year’s nominations for the Web Awards highlighted yet again the depth and quality of Australian Web sites.
How it works
In the first part of the process, readers nominated their favourite Web sites in a range of categories, which included online shopping, entertainment, travel and tourism and many more. The full list of categories and criteria can be found in the Categories section and other details are in the Rules section.
Next, the NetGuide judges sifted through the thousands of nominations and selected five finalists in each category. The finalists were published in NetGuide's December 2008 issue.
Then we asked our readers to vote for the People’s Choice Award, while the other awards were independently judged.
The winners
The final result: the winners of our 2008 Web Awards, including the People’s Choice and the overall winner, the Site of the Year.
The NetGuide Web Awards would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and this year, we have been delighted to partner with our major sponsor PayPal, and affiliate sponsor Trend Micro.
We would also like to thank those readers who took the time to send in nominations and cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award.
