There are some old favourites and some exciting newcomers among the winners of the 2007 NetGuide Australian Web Awards, and we are delighted with the result.
This year, you excelled yourselves, sending us over 7,000 nominations. Your enthusiasm has been very gratifying and we thank you for making the Web Awards so successful. We are also very grateful to our sponsors, without whom the Awards would not exist.
It’s quite unusual to find a business or an organisation that doesn’t have a Web site these days, so the pool of contenders for the Web Awards gets ever larger. As people become more Web savvy, and Web technology advances, the quality of the sites is improving, too, making our job increasingly difficult.
We congratulate the very worthy winners of this years awards. They have managed to stand out in a very competitive field and impress the judges enough to earn the highest award in their category. Congratulations also go to the sites that received a Highly Commended award, as they were very strong contenders who only just missed out.
We agreed entirely with our readers’ selection for People’s Choice, Red Bubble, and were very happy to see it win this award; and finally, many congratulations to our Site of the Year, Raising Children Network. This site takes a huge topic — parenting — and presents masses of useful and reliable information in a well-designed site that’s a delight to visit. Well done! It’s no mean feat to come out on top of such a worthy field.
